Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Patna

Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna, a State Legislature Act (Government) Institute, was founded on November 19, 1983, as an autonomous organisation structured after the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. The budget was initially projected to be 110 crore rupees, but was later amended to 133 crores.

On January 27, 1983, the Cabinet approved the completion of this large project in four parts over a six-year period. According to a State Government act, 130.20 acres of land were transferred to IGIMS.

Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sheikhpura, Patna, was founded with the goal of providing the best medical care to people in and around Bihar. The hospital aspires to be the region’s AIIMS. So far, it has been successful in attaining a portion of its aim, and IGIMS is working hard to achieve its goals for the benefit of the general public.

It is a major health-care facility in the state of Bihar. It is Bihar’s only superspecialist institute, and it is at the top of the patient referral chain. The institute educates doctors and does health and medical research in Bihar.
