Hospital of Darbhanga Medical College
Over the years, this medical college has been a significant step forwards in providing quality medical education and health services to the people of this region. The hospital provides services in all specialities, including 24 hour emergency services, pathology, radiology, blood bank, and a 24-hour pharmacy.
The Maharaj donated 300 acres of prime land in the heart of the twin city of Darbhanga-Laheriasarai, as well as Rs 6 lakh, to establish the Darbhanga Medical College. Previously, the college was known as the Temple of Medical Learning and was located in Patna.
According to doctors at the college, the Prince of Wales visited Bihar in 1925 at the request of the Maharaj and visited the medical school. He was so taken with the college that he proposed to the Maharaj, on behalf of the British government, that it be converted into a medical college. The maharaj gladly accepted his proposal on the condition that it be based in Darbhanga.
Darbhanga Medical College was established after the Temple of Medical Learning was upgraded and handed over to the government for proper administration.
DMCH plan to offer Super Specialty services and an Eye Bank in the near future. Under the PPP model, they provide a modern dialysis centre and CT-MRI machines.
All of the services offered through the PPP Mode are extremely affordable. Patients are also served by the hospital under various national programmes such as “Janani Bal Suraksha Yojna,” “National Health Mission,” and “Aayushman Bharat.”
They also intend to improve the status of faculty members, infrastructure, and equipment in order to meet the expectations of M.C.I. and the people of this region.
People from neighbouring districts and neighbouring Nepal seek medical attention from them. As a result, being associated with such a hospital would benefit aspiring young minds by providing an opportunity to develop into competent medical professionals.
Placements
The college provides a pleasant environment as well as excellent guidance. After completing their MBBS, all students must complete a year of mandatory rotatory internship. Following that, students typically apply for post-graduate studies.
Candidates are given a year-long internship. Then it is up to them to decide whether they want to continue their education or work in various hospitals and medical institutions.
