In Maharashtra state counseling, all rounds (up to institutional/stay vacancy round) have a one-time registration and choice filling. Registration for MBBS/BDS and AYUSH occurs concurrently, but counseling dates differ, and admission is based on merit in the NEET 2022 score.

Counseling Rules:-

1) Registration or choice filling begins with the first round.

2) If a candidate is assigned a seat in any round and does not accept it or resigns from it after accepting it, it will be assumed that the candidate is uninterested in the admissions process. If it is maintained, the candidate will not be given a seat in the subsequent rounds.

3) Candidates may upgrade their previous round seat to the next round.

First Stage Counseling :-

If participants get seat allotment, they must go to the allotted college to have all their documents verified. Formalities must be completed.

In the second round, candidate seat will be upgraded based on the higher option they selected during choice filling. If they are satisfied with this allotment and do not want to upgrade this seat further, they must fill out a status retention form in the college at the time of admission; otherwise, he/she will not be considered for upgrade in subsequent rounds. If they do not receive a seat allotment in the first round, he/she will have to wait until the second round.

Second Stage Counseling :-

Following the first round of counseling, the second round of MCC is held to fill the vacant seats and the seats transferred to the state. This counseling is also available online. In this case, the first-round seat can also be upgraded. If he/she joined the seat in the second round of MCC, they will be unable to participate in the second round. If they do not receive a seat allotment in this round, they will have to wait until the Mop Up round.

Counseling for Mop Up round 1,2 :-

This counseling is done after the second round to fill the vacant seats. This counseling is available online. Mop up round 2 is held for all vacant seats in government and private colleges from Mop up round 1. This is the final round for private medical colleges. Following this round, all vacant Private MBBS seats are transferred to the concerned college, and these seats are filled by the college through the Institutional round. Following this round, these seats are filled by the counseling authority conducting Mop up round 3,4, 5,6,7……… to fill the vacant seats of MBBS in government colleges.

Eligible candidates for Mop up round counseling:-

Hospital of T. N. Medical College Mumbai

The National Medical College was founded on September 4th, 1921, thanks to grants from the Tilak Swaraj Funds. At Victoria Cross Lane in Byculla, this college began operations. The nation’s forefathers envisioned a future in which medical professionals might serve the public as well as hospitals.

The founders linked the institution with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Bombay as even the universities at the time were under British administration, and the first group of students was admitted to the Licentiate Medical Practitioner (LMP) programme.

As a result, the People’s Free Hospital was built close to the current site and the YMCA. Due to their financial constraints and inability to request assistance from the government, the administrators were constantly looking for local assistance.

Fortunately, Dr. AL Nair—after whom the road on which they are located now is also labelled into view at this point. He was the owner of Powell and Co., which sold medical equipment and supplies. He generously gave the hospital campus two acres of his land.

In 1925, Dr. Nair also contributed to the establishment of a modern hospital that bears his mother’s name, Bai Yamunabai Laxman Nair. He also gave money for the hospital’s maintenance. The money contributed, according to the story, came from the earnings from the sale of the land used to construct the nearby Bombay Central Station!

Much later, Mr. MN Desai, well known as Topiwala Desai, generously donated Rs. 5 lacs to the college. As a result, the college was renamed the Topiwala National Medical College in his honour.

The only college in the city with a formal training programme in speech and audiology is this TN medical college. They also pioneered robotic performance. Urodynamic investigations and hyperbaric oxygen therapy are solely provided by this hospital, the only public hospital in the city. They are the first public hospital to have 7 departments with an ISO 9001 certification.

Placements

All students must serve two years of bond service. The salary offered is between Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 80,000 per month, depending on where they work. In this college, there is a one-year mandatory internship with a stipend. A medical officer position is available. Students can take the PLAB and USMLE to apply for PG programmes in other countries.
