Dental colleges in Maharashtra are known for their high academic standards and quality education. The colleges are affiliated with various prestigious universities and follow the curriculum prescribed by the National Dental Commission.
Maharashtra has 4 government dental colleges, 25 private dental colleges, and 8 deemed colleges. Admission to these institutions will be based on the NEET Exam Score conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NEET counselling in Maharashtra will be managed by the Commissioner, State CET CELL, Mumbai, for 85% of the seats in government dental colleges and 100% of the seats in private dental colleges under the state quota. The remaining 15% of seats in government dental colleges will be allocated through counselling conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) under the All India Quota (AIQ). The colleges provide a four-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program in dentistry is followed by a one-year mandatory rotational internship. The course is divided into four main sections: general anatomy, general physiology and biochemistry, dental anatomy, embryology and oral histology, and dental materials. Along with practical aspects of dentistry like restorative dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics, and orthodontics, it also covers the diagnosis and treatment of various dental diseases and disorders. Oral surgery, periodontics, orthodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pedodontics are some of the specializations available in the three-year Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) postgraduate dental program. Step 1: Registration
Online applications are accepted from qualified candidates for admission to all Government, private, and minority colleges. The online application forms are provided through the website. www.mahacet.org.
- A link to the application form will be displayed. Select the Application Form link.
- The instruction page will appear. Read the Online Form Filling Instructions carefully. After reading the Instructions, the applicant must click To proceed to the actual Online Application form, click the NEXT button.
- The candidate must complete all of the fields on the application form.
- Before allowing him/her to submit, the system will validate the required fields.
- Prior to submitting the Application Form, the candidate should carefully read the conditions listed under “Declaration by the Candidate.” Before submitting the application form, the candidate must agree to the conditions listed below.
Choice Filling
- The candidate may fill out the online choices form multiple times before clicking the submit button.
- There is no way to change the preference once the submit button has been clicked
- These preferences are used in the first round and subsequent rounds of selection/upgradation, including the Mop Up round. Upgrades in subsequent rounds, including the Mop Up round, are required.
Payment of Fee
- The cost of the NEET online application form is Rs. 1000/- for the State quota, Rs. 5000 for the Institutional quota, and Rs. 5000 for both quotas. Because the application fee is non-refundable, candidates are advised to read the Information Brochure and determine their eligibility.

About MCC
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The MCC is responsible for conducting online counselling for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate medical and dental courses in India, including MBBS and BDS, through the NEET UG and NEET PG exams, respectively.
The MCC conducts centralized counselling for the All India Quota (AIQ) seats in government medical and dental colleges across India, as well as for seats in Deemed and Central Universities, ESIC, and AFMC colleges. The counselling process involves registration, choice filling, seat allotment, document verification, and admission to the allotted colleges.
MCC NEET Counselling Registration
MCC holds four rounds of NEET-UG counselling for AIQ, including a mop-up round and a stray vacancy round. Following the completion of Round 2, the MCC will fill the remaining seats in a mop-up round and a stray vacancy round. The following steps must be taken:
- Visit the official website: Visit the official website of MCC (https://mcc.nic.in/) and click on the “UG Medical Counseling” tab.
- New registration: Click on “New Registration” and fill in all the required details such as personal details, contact details, NEET exam details, and security pin. After filling in all the details, click on the “Submit” button.
- Login credentials: After successful registration, a new page will appear with your login credentials. Use these credentials to log in and fill in your choices of colleges and courses.
- Choice filling: Fill in your preferred colleges and courses in order of priority. You can choose as many choices as you want.
- Locking of choices: After you have filled in your choices, you need to lock them by clicking on the “Lock Choices” button. Once the choices are locked, you cannot make any changes.
- Seat allotment: The MCC conducts the seat allotment process based on your rank, category, and the choices filled by you. You will be able to see your seat allotment result on the official website.
- Reporting to the allotted college: If you are satisfied with the seat allotted to you, you need to report to the allotted college within the specified time with all the required documents and pay the admission fee.
