Malda Medical College and Hospital, Malda (MMCH, Malda) is a medical college that is operated by the West Bengal government in Malda, WB. The West Bengal University of Health Sciences is affiliated with it, and the Medical Council of India has recognised it. In 2011, MMCH, Malda was founded.
Given the scarcity of medical professionals in West Bengal, which has a doctor-to-population ratio of 1:2600, the West Bengal government decided to establish a new medical college with a capacity of 100 MBBS students to serve the rural Bengal population. It was built in a strategic location of Malda District, which is the gateway to North Bengal; it could also serve the neighbouring districts.
Following an inspection by an MCI team in 2011, the Malda Medical College & Hospital Authority received a letter of permission on June 30, 2011.
The college is in Uma Roy Sarani, Malda, near Hantakali More Malda. The total campus area is approximately 70000 sq.m. The Academic Building (G+7) has a floor area of approximately 24000 square metres. The Health Department of the Government of West Bengal owns the campus area.
