Total government MBBS seats in India through NEET 2023 have increased significantly over the previous year. A number of medical colleges have been established in recent years, and classes began last year in several Government medical colleges across India. 

At the moment, Tamil Nadu has the most medical colleges in India. The NEET 2022 results are expected in September.

MoHFW previously informed the Board of Governors (BoG) in supersession of the MCI that 10% of seats in all government medical colleges will be reserved for economically weaker sections (EWS) for admission to undergraduate courses via NEET UG 2022.

According to NEET UG 2022 data, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana have the most MBBS seats at their government medical colleges. A total of 5200 additional seats in each state will improve candidates’ chances of acceptance.

NEET 2022 government MBBS seats

There are two types of seats available in government medical colleges: AIQ and state quota. 

A maximum of 15% of seats in each MBBS government college are reserved for All India Quota (AIQ) seats, for which the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) will conduct counseling. 

For the remaining 85%, state quota seats will be allocated to domicile candidates in that state who meet the eligibility criteria. To be considered for seat allocation, aspirants must meet the NEET cutoff 2022 percentile.

NEET Exam: 

NEET UG is the single largest medical entrance exam, with thousands of candidates taking the exam each year. Candidates get admission through NEET Scores & their chosen colleges. Because of the high fees in private medical schools, aspirants often seek government-run medical seats through the NEET.

As per MBBS admission, NEET Exam is a solely entrance test by NTA. Candidates will be assigned seats based on their NEET score and other eligibility and admission criteria established by the individual Government Medical Colleges. The All India Quota (AIQ) category will allow 15% of total seats in each participating medical college, with the remaining 85% reserved for state medical colleges for candidates from the respective states.

NEET Score For Government MBBS Seats in India
