FMGE Result Declared: 78% Fail, Check Pass Percentage

FMGE Result Declared: The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has released the results of the (FMGE) Foreign Medical Graduate Examination for the December session. Candidates can check the exam results on natboard.edu.in. 78% of candidates have failed the examination.

The FMGE examination for the December session was conducted on January 20, 2024. A total of 38,535 candidates appeared for the exam, out of which 30,046 candidates failed. 1,386 candidates did not appear for the exam. Approximately 22% passed, and approximately 78% failed. The results for the FMGE December 2023 session will be available for download from February 13. This year’s result has been considerably better compared to the June session (approximately 10% pass rate). To qualify in this 300-mark exam, candidates need to score 50% marks.

Candidates who passed the FMGE December 2023 exam will be notified about the dates for receiving their certificates by the NBE. The NBE stated, “Candidates whose face ID verification is pending, who have pending legal cases, and whose security clearance is awaited, have had their results withheld.”

It’s worth noting that if one wishes to practice medicine in India after studying abroad, passing the FMGE examination is mandatory. This test is considered quite challenging, with a pass rate typically ranging from 20% to 25%.

Plan to End FMGE Exam

The Indian government plans to abolish the FMGE exam and the NEET PG entrance exam in favor of starting the National Exit Test (NEXT). However, according to the recent notification issued by the NMC, the National Exit Test (NEXT) has been suspended until further orders.
