Government Dental College in Meghalaya is currently absent from the state. There are currently no government BDS colleges operating in Meghalaya. This creates a situation similar to MBBS education in the state, where ambitious dental professionals have few options in their home state and frequently seek chances elsewhere. While there are no private dentistry colleges in Meghalaya and absence of a government-run institution creates a gap in accessibility and affordability for many students.
If established, a government BDS college in Meghalaya would provide several advantages. It would provide a more affordable option for aspiring dentists, potentially attracting students who might otherwise have to pursue their studies outside the state. Furthermore, it would help to strengthen the state’s healthcare system by providing qualified dental practitioners who can serve local populations.
