Medical Aspirants Petition for Postponement of Entrance Exam to July: In a collective effort, over 8000 medical aspirants across the nation have signed a petition urging the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to postpone the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery (NEET MDS) to July 2024. The demand for rescheduling gained momentum following the NBEMS announcement of a revised exam date for NEET MDS 2024.
Initially scheduled for February 9, 2024, the NEET MDS Exam 2024 has been rescheduled to March 18, as per the official notification released by NBEMS on January 20. Expressing discontent with the current timetable, aspirants have taken to social media platforms, initiating a campaign with hashtags such as #postponeneetmds2024tilljuly, #Postponeneetmds2024toJULY, #NEETMDS2024POSTPONEMENT, and #POSTPONENEETMDS2024 on X (formerly Twitter).
In addition to the online campaign, candidates have mobilized support through an online petition platform, garnering more than 2,780 signatures on the “PostponeNEETMDS2024toJuly” petition. The petition emphasizes the interconnected nature of counseling for both medical and dental students, proposing that aligning NEET MDS 2024 with NEET PG Medical by rescheduling it to July would offer clarity to aspirants and alleviate the emotional burden associated with the current uncertainty.
Candidates have directed their pleas to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on X, urging them to consider the matter. One candidate’s post on X reads, “RESPECTED SIR, REQUESTING THE POSTPONE OF NEET MDS 2024 FROM MARCH TO JULY SO AS TO MAINTAIN A PARITY BETWEEN BOTH NEET MDS AND NEET PG EXAMS. AND TO REDUCE THE TIME GAP BETWEEN EXAM AND COUNSELLING. HOPING FOR A FAIR CHANCE. THANK YOU.”
As the voices of discontent grow louder, it remains to be seen how the NBEMS and relevant authorities respond to the pleas for a rescheduled NEET MDS 2024 examination.
